Member Organizer
Are you interested in taking time off the road to help build the cooperative?
The Drivers Cooperative is creating a new opportunity for members to take one day per week off the road to work on tasks and projects to build the co-op. Member Organizers will spend 6-10 hours/week and taking on tasks to help the cooperative achieve our strategic goals. Capacity is limited, please apply using the form on this page.
Goals of the program:
Create a strong relationship between members and the cooperative
Build a structure for mobilizing members and building power
Develop members as leaders to build the Co-op
Learn about the operational aspects of the cooperative
Build and activate the co-op membership
Connect the cooperative with drivers’ communities, and connect communities with the cooperative
Lead campaigns for the cooperative’s policy agenda
Provide mentorship and onboarding support for new driver members
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Participate in weekly professional development/team meeting
Take at least 10 trips/week for the Co-op
Take a specialized role/task within the cooperative
Take a shift to provide support for drivers
Lead orientations and provide support for new members
Provide support for a network of members in the co-op
Participate in projects around:
Community outreach and events
Driver Outreach
Cooperative Policy Agenda
Driver Mentorship Program
Driver Education and Skill Development
Mobilize members to build the co-op and and campaign for the policy agenda of the cooperative.
Expectations
Member Organizers will work closely with the Driver Engagement Manager in between meetings to enhance their relationships with drivers, riders, and operations team; in addition to working with staff to improve the experience of our drivers.
We are looking for drivers who are committed to reaching out to other drivers and promoting the cooperative to their fellow drivers. Speaking an additional language ready to work with all kinds of people in a fast-changing environment is a plus.Member O will help fellow drivers understand the app and encourage them to log on and do trips. Being a servant leader is an asset. Driver Fellows will head Orientations to inform other drivers about the Cooperative and its work.
Qualifications
The driver fellow must be a TLC license NYC driver who presently drives for the cooperative.
Compensation
Candidates for Member Organizers will go through a voluntary probation period where they work as a volunteer. Drivers chosen will receive a stipend of up to $200/week to defray the cost of taking up to 8 hours off the road each week to participate in the program over the four months of its duration.
